THE SIEGE OF DERRY.

 

In 1689 King James II brought almost all of Ireland under Catholic control. Only two garrisons still stood in defiance... Enniskillen & the city of Londonderry. The mainly Ulster-Scots of Derry city held out in a tortuous 105 day seige by the King's army in which upto 15,000 of the city's occupants died before relief finally came, changing the course of Irish history.
